Adding Hiroshima makes the pass worth checking only when the covered intercity journeys fit one consecutive seven-day window. Compare every covered JR ticket with the current pass price, then add any train or section the pass does not replace.
Check whether the long rides fit one seven-day window
The pass replaces covered JR journeys only while it is valid. Use the actual travel dates rather than the total length of your holiday.
All long rides fit inside seven consecutive days
Add Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka, Hiroshima and the return journey using the exact trains you expect to take. Compare that total with ¥50,000 per adult.
Hiroshima falls outside the seven-day window
Keep that journey as an individual ticket or compare the 14-day product separately. Do not treat a longer holiday as proof that the longer pass costs less.
Kyoto and Osaka are close together
The short Kyoto–Osaka journey contributes much less than the Tokyo and Hiroshima legs. Do not let the number of cities replace the ticket total.
Add the tickets the pass does not replace
Nozomi or Mizuho
The pass alone does not cover these services. Buy the official NOZOMI MIZUHO Ticket for each journey or use a covered service.
Non-JR travel
Subways, buses and private railways remain separate unless the official pass coverage specifically includes them.
Travel outside the window
Any covered-looking journey taken before or after the seven valid days must still be purchased separately.
